In this thesis, we present a detailed study of the design of photonic crystal slab waveguides at the prospect of exploiting them for telecom applications. Photonic crystals are formed by periodically modulating the refractive index of the structure. Photonic crystal waveguides provide an exciting prospect for confining and manipulating light at a subwavelength scale, opening up new paths on the field of integrated optics. In this thesis, the photonic crystal waveguide performance with respect to linear and nonlinear phenomena is optimized by changing various geometric parameters of the structures. A three dimensional plane-wave expansion eigenmode solver based on the conjugate gradient of the Rayleigh-Ritz quotient was implemented providing us with the modal fields and the dispersion relation of the photonic crystal slab waveguide designs.179 pp.creatoreducational validatorScientific CoordinatorProject Executing Organisation2015-07-22TextΦωτονικοί κρύσταλλοιΦωτονικοί κυματοδηγοίΑργό φωςΜίξη τεσσάρων κυμάτωνΣολιτόνιαΓραμμές καθυστέρησηςΚυματοδηγοίΟπτικοί παλμοί5740631application/pdfhttp://repository.edulll.gr/edulll/bitstream/10795/3597/2/3597_1.56_%ce%94%ce%94_22_7_15.pdfURIhttp://hdl.handle.net/10795/3597creator2016-06-09T12:57:54Zvalidator2016-06-09T12:57:54ZLOMv1.0grenonoCopyright EYD-EPEDBM (Operational Programme "Education and Lifelong Learning")
